The Map, The Maze, and The Miracle
At MissMojo, we started with just a name and a mission: to set women’s feet free.
Before designing a single shoe, we turned our office into a discovery lab. Hundreds of pairs arrived—every “comfort” style on the market, plus orthotics, arch supports, and every sock and insole imaginable. That was our starting point: mapping the territory of comfort.
After testing, debating, and testing again, a clear winner rose from the chaos: classic design + EVA.
Then, we asked the question that’s probably crossed your mind, too:
Why does the same shoe—same photo, same description—vary so wildly in price?
So we picked several EVA styles and bought every version available. It was time for a real, systematic investigation.
What we uncovered was a world of contrast:
From strong chemical smells to no odor at all.
From weightless lack of support to rigid, unyielding foam—and finally, the perfect balance between the two.
From rough, unfinished edges to flawlessly smooth surfaces.
From garish, overly bright colors to soft, pleasing tones.
With input from industry experts, we learned the hard truth behind poor-quality products: unregulated recycled materials, misuse of cheap additives, heavy metals and unstandardized chemicals, and rushed, careless production.
It was worth it. We now knew exactly what to avoid.
Next came a new experiment.
We gathered every EVA sample and conducted a blind test. No labels, no prices—just feel, touch, and intuition. We chose what truly felt good.
Then, we revealed the prices. We filtered out the overpriced—because yes, we wanted more than just quality. We wanted honest value.
Our goal was clear: find the pair that delivered superior quality without an unjustified markup.
And here’s what stood out: every sample that rose to the top was made in China.
That’s when I began to rethink everything.
I reached out to a close Chinese friend, a veteran in foreign trade. She didn’t just explain—she guided.
“Made in China isn’t one story—it’s many,” she said. “The technology here is sophisticated, the supply chain complete. It’s why giants like Apple relied on it for so long. But the key is finding those top-tier partners who share your standards.”
After deep conversations, we realized our visions aligned perfectly. So with joy, we expanded the team—she joined us as a core member, leading our supply chain efforts in China.
I flew to China, and together we began visiting factories, one after another.
Even with her expertise, it wasn’t easy. As a new, small brand, our orders were a drop in the ocean to top-tier factories. We couldn’t get the support we needed.
But you can always believe in a miracle when your heart is set on a goal.
After countless visits and sample rounds, we found our match. Not the biggest in scale—but unmatched in principle. To them, cutting corners or using inferior materials was, in their own words, “a sacrilege.”
And then, a small miracle: the factory owner’s wife, who’s deeply involved in the business, was moved by our story. She volunteered to personally oversee our project. She didn’t just supervise—she cared. She offered expert suggestions. In many ways, she became part of our core team.
In return—and to break the “sweatshop” cycle—we made a conscious choice: we pay a profit above the industry average. We believe this is the only way to a true triple win: a fairly paid factory, a brand built on integrity, and a customer who receives a product they can trust.
You see, when our goal is clear, firm, and truly brings good to all—things unfold in magical ways, bringing surprise after surprise.
It feels like...mojo.
